While the official transfer window in the Premiership might have closed a few weeks ago the deals that matter to us locally are still very much happening. One of the largest house building companies in the UK; Taylor Wimpey have announced a new sponsorship detail with the Beccles Town under 16s football team (A.K.A The Bees).
Taylor Wimpey are currently engaged in some high profile developments throughout Suffolk. Caroline Carter, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, explains some of the reasons behind the decision to sponsor Beccles Town U16s,
“As a considerate and responsible local housebuilder, we’re keen to support groups and organisations that work so hard in the areas where we build our new homes. Sports clubs play such an important role within their local communities, so we were delighted to sponsor the U16s Bees team at Beccles Town Football Club, and would like to wish them every success for the coming season!”
The sponsorship package includes money for new kit for the players, including waterproof clothing that will be most welcome during the long winter months.
The Beccles U16s Bees are a proud team, and with good reason; they finished sixth last season. With the hard work the team has put in preparing for the 2017 / 18 season they are confident that they have even more sporting greatness waiting for them just around the corner.
Paul Barford, Beccles Town FC’s Treasurer, explains why the U16s Bees have such a positive attitude,
“The U16 Bees epitomise what playing for Beccles Town is all about – they play as a team that truly love the game. Win, lose or draw they come off the field at full-time proud to have represented their local town, knowing that they have done their best.
The sponsorship pledged by Taylor Wimpey will ensure every player gets the new Beccles Town FC kit which is fantastic news and is something they will all wear with great pride.
The 2017/18 season is going to provide great opportunities for the U16s squad and I wish them and all teams at every age group in the Norfolk and Suffolk Youth League every success.”
Beccles Town Football Club, run entirely by a network of volunteers, was formed in June 2014 following a merger between Beccles Town Athletic Club, founded in 1919, and the highly successful Beccles-based youth football club, St Benet’s Wasps FC. The merger has seen both sections develop and now includes two senior teams (first team and reserves) and 29 junior teams, including four girls’ teams, ranging in age from U8s through to U18s.
The youth teams play in the Norfolk and Suffolk Youth League and the Norfolk Women and Girls League, and the new season kicked off on Sunday 17th September.
