Ten Christmas Markets and Fairs in Suffolk this season, 2017

Christmas is fast approaching in Suffolk and it is the season for festive fun and fabulous shopping and we are spoiled for choice. Our county holds a great array of Christmas markets and fairs which showcase the very best of local produce and crafts. But they are not just a place to find unique and lovingly made presents but are a time of entertainment with a variety of ways to really get into the festive swing from carol singers to hot mulled wine, reindeer to donkey rides, live music to craft activities, there is something for everyone to love.

So, crack out your festive jumper, get the tinsel on standby and listen out for the sleigh bells as we have ten Christmas markets and fairs you won’t want to miss:


Saturday 18th November
Long Melford Christmas Craft Fair

This handmade, contemporary Christmas Craft and Design Fair hosts over 40 stalls and offers shoppers a wonderful choice of beautifully designed and handcrafted gifts for Christmas. From Jewellery to bags, soaps cards, soft furnishings, from garden wares to clothes and more there will surely be something for all.

Thursday 23rd November
Ladies Festive Shopping Night, Ufford Park

This is a great chance to shop in the beautiful surroundings of Ufford Park, snack on some delicious canapes and indulge in a complementary glass of bubbly as you choose gifts from the range of stalls selling fashion, handbags, purses, scarves, jewellery and more. What’s more, this fabulous shopping experience is in aid of the charity Marie Curie.
Time 19:00-21:30 £6 per person, booking in advance.


Thursday 23rd-Sun 26th November
Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre

This fantastic four-day event opens at 2p.m. on Thursday 23rd November and is a packed weekend of festive shopping, activities and entertainment. Thursday evening has special late night shopping offers and finishes with fireworks in the gardens. Friday and Saturday are bursting with atmosphere; a great time to wander round with a hot chocolate and enjoy the activities. Sunday morning is relaxed and the perfect time to visit and browse.

Blythburgh Christmas Market

A chance to browse stalls looking for that special Christmas gift. Make a relaxed day of it and have some lunch. Take in the atmosphere and really get into the Christmas spirit with mulled wine and carol singing.

Christmas Fair at Clare

Held at St Peter and St Paul’s church in the centre of town, the Christmas Fair is the culmination of a two-day winter festival. There will be music and food, family entertainment and will showcase a great selection of gifts decorations and crafts all in the atmospheric surroundings of the church – a magical way to do your Christmas shopping.

Friday 1st – Sun 3rd December
Lavenham Christmas Fayre

A seasonal feast for the senses, this event will host music and entertainment for all the family as well as craft and food stalls – all amid the magical backdrop of Lavenham’s historic Market Place. At this three-day festival of fun there will be Father Christmas in his grotto, funfair and rides, fantastic stalls under cover, mulled wine and other tasty treats and a guided lantern walk of the beautiful medieval village.

Jimmy’s Farm Christmas Fayre

Jimmy’s Farm will be hosting a weekend of Christmas craft, food and stalls and a lot of Christmas cheer with mulled cider and more.

Woodbridge Mammoth Christmas Fair
Join in the Christmas fun amongst the stalls that line the bustling Thoroughfare and Cumberland Street. There will be a range of gifts and superb produce and a wonderful Christmas atmosphere in the heart of the pretty market town. Time 10:00-17:00


Friday 8th-Sat 10th December
Ipswich Christmas Market
This year, the Ipswich Christmas Market is being hosted by Ipswich Borough Council and will be bigger and better than ever before. There will be activities and stalls, food, gifts and live entertainment as Ipswich is transformed into a winter wonderland. Time: 10:00-18:00 (till 16:00 Sunday)

Snape Maltings Christmas Farmers’ Market
The Christmas market is the culmination of the seasonal festivities at Snape Maltings and offers locally sourced, high-quality produce in a wonderful atmosphere. Buy Christmas gifts and treats from Suffolk’s artisan producers where there is so much choice there is something for everyone – even Christmas treats for your dog.
